Orton Road, Carlisle

Carlisle

Status: Approved

Application Type: Detailed Planning Application

Proposal

Story Homes has submitted a planning application for 156 new homes on land at Orton Road in Carlisle. The proposed scheme includes a range of 2 to 5-bedroom homes and will have 46 affordable homes. This scheme will deliver environmental benefits such as the provision of a SuDS pond with associated biodiversity value as well as areas of public open space, soft landscaping and tree lined streets. We anticipate a decision from Carlisle City Council in Summer 2021. All plans for the scheme can be seen on the Carlisle City Council website under reference 21/0314.

Benefits

  • Our proposals will include affordable housing that will be allocated for people with a local connection to the area. The affordable homes are anticipated to include a range of two and three-bedroom properties.
  • Where there is a proven shortfall in available places in the local secondary school, we will provide a financial contribution to fund any additional places required resulting from our proposals.
  • Our proposals will include a travel plan that will include measures to help reduce reliance on private vehicles
  • Our proposals will support existing local businesses and help create additional employment through new opportunities for local sub-contractors and the supply chain.
