Help to Buy secures dream home as first families move in to Ash Tree Park

June 2017

Teachers Sarah and Luke Harding were the first family to unpack at Ash Tree Park as they moved in to their dream four-bedroom detached Warwick housetype at our second development in Kendal.

The couple and their two year old daughter Isla previously lived in a two bedroom Victorian terraced house. They quickly outgrew this home and were looking for something bigger within the local area – they never dreamed they would be able to afford a new build Story Home especially in Kendal.

After visiting friends, who live in a Warwick housetype at our The Beeches development, the family decided to take a look around the local area for a larger family home. They looked around our show homes in Lancaster and spoke to our independent financial advisor Nigel from Acumen who put all the financial figures together.

“I never thought we would be able to afford a home like this – it really is a dream! We were looking in Kendal and the only homes available were older properties that need a lot of work doing to them – we don’t have the time to do this having Isla and both leading busy lives. Help to Buy has allowed us to purchase a forever family home, that we have been able to walk straight in to and make it our home.

“Nigel from Acumen went through all our options and showed us that we could afford our home using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme. People always think this is for first time buyers but it isn’t. We could not have been able to move up the ladder and afford this home without using this scheme.” said Sarah.

The Government ‘Help to Buy’ scheme aims to help buyers who have a deposit of at least 5%, by borrowing 20% from the government and take a 75% mortgage to secure their dream home.

The Warwick house type is one of our most popular four-bedroom family homes. The large hallway is striking when entering the property, offering lots of space to create an impressive entrance. With a large lounge / dining room as well as a generously sized kitchen and breakfast room, there is lots of space for growing families. Upstairs are four sizable bedrooms, an en-suite off the master bedroom and family bathroom.

They are now settled into their home at Ash Tree Park and are looking forward to their neighbours moving in.

Sarah continued, “The Warwick is a beautiful home with lots of features including the beautiful stone work to the exterior which really ties in with the local area. It is a really big four-bedroom detached house with lots of design features and character, which you wouldn’t always expect with a new build home. We love the entrance hallway as it really has the wow factor with its gallery staircase. The downstairs is a great space especially having Isla, as she can spend time in playroom at the back of the lounge which also has French doors leading out to the garden.

“One of the main reasons we bought this plot was the size of the back garden. It’s been a great entertaining space on these sunny days to have a barbecue with our family and friends.”

There are more than 30 properties sold with 11 families now living at Ash Tree Park.

“Our sales executive Jan was brilliant at keeping us updated throughout the buying process. She was there with us at every stage of making this house our home. The choice available of kitchen units, tiles, appliances, etc was incredible and it was exactly what we envisaged when we walked in to our home for the first time.” concluded Sarah

We have also launched our third development in Kendal at Greengate Meadow in Levens and these new homes are being marketed from Ash Tree Park.
