November 2016

Martin (27) joined Story Homes as part of our graduate programme and has recently been promoted to development planner for its North West division.

The newly-wed’s, Martin and Gemma (28), are renting an apartment in Windermere, where Gemma works as a secondary school teacher. The couple eagerly awaited the launch of the Ash Tree Park development and were one of the first buyers.

When Martin started working for Story Homes, he was working as a planner on the Ash Tree Park development. He loved the location in Kendal with views of rolling countryside and he loved the design and quality of their homes. So much so, he bought one from the first phase.

The couple have bought the ‘Kingston’ a three bedroom semi-detached home, using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme. They also have been saving for their deposit using the Help to Buy ISA. It’s a tax-free savings product where the Government adds 25% on top of whatever is saved.

Martin said: “When I joined Story Homes, I was so impressed with the attention to detail and the quality of materials that goes in to each house and every development. We looked around Kendal but Story Homes really does offer the best in the area. I am a development planner so I work on our schemes during the planning stage and get involved with the layouts and design of the houses. It’s so exciting to see our home being built and the development come together.

“Gemma and I have used the Help to Buy ISA for our deposit. This has made a massive difference to us and we will have a lump sum to pay on completion. It means we’ve been able to buy everything else we need for our home, and we have been able to upgrade our kitchen and add flooring.

“The homes really have the wow factor with the specification which comes as standard. We haven’t had to pay for any appliances as our fitted kitchen comes with everything we need included. One of our favourite features is the bi-folding doors which lead our from our lounge to the rear garden – this will be a great space for entertaining.

“We’ve been able to secure our dream home – it’s a great size house for us. We are looking forward to moving in and making our house our home. It’s a home we are going to grow in to and it offers the right amount of space for us.”

The first release of homes at Ash Tree Park sold out in the first week. This is a sought after development offering a range of stylish 2, 3, and 4-bedroom properties that are conveniently located to all the amenities that Kendal has to offer including good local schools and transport links.

Sales Manager Clare Wilson said: “It’s great to see that Martin and his wife Gemma can move into a home that exceeds their needs and fits in with modern living. Using the Help to Buy scheme they only need to put down a 5% deposit and a 20% government grant. You can easily become a homeowner like them.”

“Ash Tree Park is the first development to launch with our new Prestige specification in the North West. We know the difference is in the detail and our superior specification includes a range of luxury products and materials as standard, giving every home the wow factor. ”

There are several different property types to choose from including apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached homes offering up to 1440 sq ft of living space there is truly something for everyone.

The Government’s Help to Buy mortgage guarantee scheme will close to new mortgage applications on 31 December this year but other schemes remain available.
